A bright amber safety beacon is shown in sharp focus atop a yellow barricade base. The circular lens reflects light and features a small red carrying loop at the top. A second amber beacon appears out of focus in the background, creating a shallow depth-of-field effect. The backdrop consists of dark green trees and soft bokeh highlights, emphasizing the glowing warning lights.

Location: SE 76th Street between 113th Ave SE and 116th Ave SE

Construction is now underway to bring new sidewalks, an uphill bike lane, and stormwater improvements to the south side of SE 76th Street between 113th Ave SE and 116th Ave SE. These enhancements will improve safety and walkability for residents and visitors in the neighborhood. Work is expected to wrap up in early fall 2026.

What to Expect: Your Questions Answered

What work is being done? The project will construct new sidewalks and an uphill bike lane along the south side of SE 76th Street, along with stormwater improvements. The work spans from 113th Ave SE to 116th Ave SE.

Will the road be closed? No full road closures are planned. However, drivers should expect the possibility of alternating one-way traffic during construction hours. A flagger will be on site to guide traffic safely through the work zone when needed.

How long will construction last? The contractor works four 10-hour days per week, Monday through Thursday, with no scheduled construction on Fridays, weekends, or holidays. The contract allows for 70 working days, with completion expected in early fall 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

Why is this project happening? This project addresses gaps in the pedestrian and bicycle network, making it safer and easier to walk and bike in the neighborhood. The stormwater improvements will also help manage runoff and protect water quality in the area.
