About Weather Safety
Severe weather and natural hazards can occur at any time and may impact safety, property, and daily routines. Newcastle residents can find resources and guidance for a variety of conditions, including air quality, snow and ice, wildfires, and high winds. For the most up-to-date forecasts, watches, and warnings, visit the National Weather Service Seattle/Tacoma, which provides information to help plan and stay safe during severe weather events.
Power Outages
Severe weather and other hazards can cause power outages. Do not call 911 if power goes out, unless there is an immediate safety risk like a downed wire. Outages should be reported directly to Puget Sound Energy (PSE) online at pse.com/outage or through the PSE mobile app. PSE provides real-time outage information, including estimated restoration times, on its outage map and in the mobile app, helping people stay informed and prepared during an outage.
Staying Prepared
Steps to stay safe during any severe weather or natural hazard include:
- Sign up for ALERT King County notifications.
