
About the Department
The Community Development Department ensures all construction and development in the City of Newcastle follows local, state, and federal rules. Staff review applications and permits, inspect projects, and make sure that developments meet environmental regulations. They also help guide the City’s long-term growth and support the City Council and Planning Commission.
Division and Services
Building
Coordinates construction, right-of-way, and land use applications. Reviews building permits and inspects construction projects from start to finish to ensure they meet local, state, and federal rules.
Planning
Reviews land use development applications, like subdivisions and lot line adjustments, to ensure they meet city codes and environmental regulations. Supports long-term city planning projects and provides guidance to the City Council and Planning Commission.
