Public Safety Services
At the City of Newcastle, keeping you safe is our top priority. Our public safety services include Animal Control, Emergency Management, Fire and EMS, and Police. These services work together to protect people, property, and the community.
Animal Control
Newcastle is served by Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) for problems like dangerous animals, injured or abused animals, livestock on public roads, and repeated loud animal noise. For wildlife concerns, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) helps with healthy or nuisance wildlife and gives advice on how to avoid conflicts and understand the wildlife in our neighborhoods.

WDFW Non-Emergency: 425-775-1311
Emergency Management
Newcastle’s Emergency Management program prepares for disasters like storms, floods, and earthquakes. The city works with local, regional, and state partners to keep emergency plans up to date, run drills, and teach community members how to stay safe. Community members can sign up for alerts, make a home emergency plan, and join community preparedness programs.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services
Newcastle contracts with the Bellevue Fire Department (BFD) for fire and medical emergencies. BFD responds to all 911 calls and provides fire inspections, safety checks, permits, and educational programs. The nearest fire station, Station 9 on Newcastle Way, has a Brush Truck to respond quickly to neighborhoods at risk for wildfires.

Police
Newcastle contracts with the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) for 24/7 police coverage. The Newcastle Police Department consists of KCSO deputies dedicated to serving the city, including a Chief, Detective, Master Patrol Officer, several patrol officers, and a traffic enforcement officer. Officers can be recognized by city-marked patrol cars and uniforms. The Department offers programs like Block Watch and vacation house checks, and shares crime updates with the community.
