Elections and voter registration for Newcastle are administered by King County. Below are key resources to help you register, vote, and stay informed.

Voter Registration

Register to vote and find eligibility requirements on the King County Elections website. Voter registration must be completed at least 30 days before an election to participate.

Running for Newcastle City Council

Interested in serving your community? To run for City Council, you must be a registered voter in Newcastle, meet all the qualifications for office at the time of filing, and submit the necessary filing forms with King County Elections. Campaign Signs

There is no specified starting date for posting campaign signs.

  • Campaign signs must comply with the size limitations specified in the temporary signs section of the city code (NMC 18.20.270). Small “stake signs” are generally allowable.
  • Campaign signs can be placed on private property with the permission of the property owner.
  • Campaign signs may only be located behind the sidewalk (the side closer to the buildings, away from the road), in areas of lawn or naturally growing vegetation.
  • Campaign signs may not be located within the roadway, within any landscaping strip between the road and the sidewalk, on sidewalks, on city-owned property, or on areas behind the sidewalk (further from the road) landscaped with vegetation other than grass. 
  • City staff asks that all campaign signs be removed within 48 hours after an election.
  • It is best to direct your concerns or complaints to the appropriate campaign committee(s).


If any campaign signs are picked up by City staff, they will be available at the City Annex Building (7415 129th Ave SE) for five business days.
