The City of Newcastle Public Works Department is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician to join its city maintenance team. The position will remain open until filled, with a first review of applications on August 31, 2026.
About the Role
Maintenance Technicians are central to keeping Newcastle’s infrastructure running smoothly, from streets and pavements to parks and green spaces. The position reports to the Infrastructure Maintenance Manager and offers hands-on work that makes a visible difference throughout the community.
Responsibilities include:
- Repairing pavements and maintaining signage
- Cleaning culverts and helping set up for city events
- Operating equipment such as chainsaws and excavators
- Basic carpentry, cement work, and painting
- Landscaping, planting, and weed control to keep green spaces looking their best
- Responding to maintenance emergencies as they arise
Salary Range
The position offers a salary range of $34.23 to $44.66 per hour, with a hiring range of $34.23 to $38.52 per hour.
