City of Newcastle is pleased to share that it has received a clean Financial and Federal single audit for the 2024 fiscal year, confirming that public funds continue to be managed responsibly and transparently. This independent review, conducted by the State Auditor’s Office, reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to accountability and strong financial stewardship.
Each year, the audit process provides an in-depth review of the City’s financial statements and practices. Auditors analyze a randomized selection of transactions, compare results to year-end reports, and verify all bank activity to ensure accuracy. This thorough review helps confirm that financial records are complete, consistent, and sound.
A clean audit means that no significant issues or concerns were identified during the review. For residents, that assurance reinforces trust in how public dollars are tracked, reported, and used. Maintaining accurate financial records also strengthens the City’s ability to support critical programs, projects, and services throughout the community.
This latest result highlights the dedication of the City’s Finance Department to maintaining high standards in budgeting, reporting, and internal controls.
Congratulations to Director Chambers and the entire Finance Team for their excellent work and continued focus on accuracy and transparency.
