
The City of Newcastle Community Activities Commission, together with Puget Sound Energy (PSE), invites everyone to join the 2025 Lights of Newcastle Outdoor Holiday Display Contest! Spread holiday cheer by decorating your home, yard, balcony, or townhome for the community to enjoy.
This year features your favorite award categories plus a new surprise judged award, which will be revealed closer to the event. Community voting will determine the main award winners.
CONTEST DETAILS
–Eligibility: Open to any residence (apartment, condo, house, or townhome) within Newcastle city limits.
–Display Visibility: Decorations must be viewable from the sidewalk or street.
–Lighting Hours: Displays should be lit 5:00-8:00 p.m., December 10–19 for voting.
HOW TO ENTER
1.) Register: Sign up for FREE by the end of the day on Friday, Dec. 5.
2.) Display a Contest Sign: Registrants receive a sign to show they’re part of the contest.
3.) Get Ready to Shine: Have your display ready by Wednesday, Dec. 10.

VOTING & AWARDS
Community voting will run December 10–19, with winners announced on social media on Monday, Dec. 22. Award categories include:
💡 Griswold Award: Best Use of Lighting/Illumination
⛄ Misfit Toys Award: Best Use of Inflatables/Lawn Ornaments/Props
✨ Traditionally Elegant: Best Use of Design
🎀 All Decked Out: Best Apartment/Condo/Townhome Window or Balcony
❓ New Surprise Judged Award: Details revealed closer to the event
A Google map of participating displays will be available on the City of Newcastle website and at City Hall for self-guided tours.
