Inspection Requests

Inspections are conducted Monday through Friday and must be scheduled at least one day in advance. The cutoff time for next-day inspections is 4:30 p.m., and any request submitted after 5:00 p.m. will be performed two business days later. All inspection requests, except electrical, are submitted online through MyBuildingPermit.com. Electrical inspections are arranged through the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.

Scheduling Instructions

Before scheduling through MyBuildingPermit.com, make sure all work is completed and ready for inspections. Important: Inspections cannot be canceled online on the same day they are scheduled. Inspectors do not accept calls or direct scheduling.

1. Go to MyBuildingPermit.com.
2. Select “Inspection Request.”
3. Choose “Newcastle” from the city list. (Note: Fire inspections are conducted by the Bellevue Fire Department as Newcastle contracts for Fire and EMS. For these types of inspections, choose “Bellevue” from the city list.)
4. Enter the permit number, not the address, in the search bar.
5. Select the inspection(s) you are ready for. Selecting others prematurely may make them unavailable later.
6. Building finals can only be scheduled after all required Planning and Public Works finals (if needed) are approved.
7. Fill out your name, phone, and email. An email is required for receiving an electronic “Fail” card if applicable.
8. If the remarks box, include your mobile number if you want text updates and a two-hour ETA window.

Canceling Inspections

If you need to cancel after 4:30 p.m. the day before your inspection, call 425-386-4103 or email permit@newcastlewa.gov. Requests sent after this time will count as a failed inspection. Future failed inspections may be charged a reinspection fee, which starts at $150. If you need to cancel before 4:30 p.m. the day before or earlier, log in to MyBuildingPermit.com and cancel online.
