About the Department
The Public Works Department is the City of Newcastle’s largest department and is responsible for building, maintaining, and overseeing the city’s infrastructure. It manages most of the city’s physical assets, including roads, bridges, parks, stormwater systems, and municipal buildings. Because not all assets are city-owned, the department works closely with other agencies, utilities, and community partners.
