Events and Recreation

About Events & Recreation

The City of Newcastle brings the community together through year-round programs and activities for all ages. From youth recreation and summer camps to special events and volunteer opportunities, there are many ways to stay active, have fun, and connect with neighbors while enjoying everything the city has to offer.

Recreation Programs

Newcastle offers a variety of youth programs designed to keep kids active, engaged, and learning. Year-round sports through Skyhawks Sports at Lake Boren Park provide fun, skill-building experiences for children from preschool to 12 years old. Summer camps combine learning and play, helping kids explore new interests, stay active, and make friends.

Special Events

The City hosts a wide range of events throughout the year, with the largest celebrations in the summer. Favorites like Fireworks on the Lake and Newcastle Days, along with seasonal events such as Pumpkins in the Park and Lights of Newcastle, bring families and neighbors together for fun, entertainment, and community connection.

Sponsorship

Sponsorships give businesses and organizations the chance to support Newcastle’s events while reaching thousands of attendees. Sponsors help enhance signature events like Fireworks on the Lake, Concerts in the Park, and Newcastle Days, creating meaningful connections with the city, community members, and local partners.

Volunteering

Volunteering in Newcastle is a fun way to give back, meet people, and learn more about the community. Opportunities are available for individuals and groups of all ages, from helping at city events to supporting local organizations and projects. Stay informed by subscribing to the Volunteer Newsletter or following the City on social media.
