Starting Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the City of Newcastle will begin removing all temporary and portable signs from public areas in accordance with Newcastle Municipal Code (NMC) 18.20.270. This initiative applies to signs in public spaces such as:
- Medians of public roads
- Landscaping strips between roads and sidewalks
- Sidewalks without the appropriate permits
- Commercial landscaping strips that are not lawn or naturally occurring vegetation
Additional criteria for sign removal include worn or damaged signs, signs with attachments (like balloons or streamers) located outside residential property, and any sign lacking a right-of-way permit.
Storage and Disposal
Removed signs will be stored at the City of Newcastle Annex Building, located at 7415 129th Ave SE, until November 12, 2024. After this date, unclaimed signs will be disposed of.
