The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Newcastle, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City and ensuring the effective implementation of policies set by the City Council. In addition to executing the Council's directives, the City Manager also brings forward policy recommendations for consideration and action.

Key responsibilities of the City Manager include overseeing all administrative functions, managing personnel decisions, preparing and presenting the annual operating and capital budgets, and ensuring the City's laws and ordinances are properly enforced in accordance with RCW 35A.13.080.

While the City's departments handle most day-to-day operations, the City Manager often leads special initiatives, manages high-priority projects, and coordinates complex activities.
