Newcastle City Council appoints Jim Quigg to vacant seat
The Newcastle City Council voted Tuesday, December 3, 2024, to appoint Jim Quigg to a vacant position on the 7-member body.
The 4-2 vote concluded a public process that attracted 10 applicants for the seat, which became vacant earlier this year.
"We were incredibly impressed by the caliber of applicants who stepped forward to serve our community," said Mayor Clark "Jim Quigg’s exceptional professional background and deep commitment to Newcastle stood out. We are confident his leadership and experience will greatly benefit our city."
Jim Quigg, a Newcastle resident since 2013, brings over 25 years of experience in negotiation, governance, and community leadership. As Technology Sourcing Manager at T-Mobile, Jim has trained teams, resolved complex disputes, and spearheaded national governance initiatives. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jim has been deeply involved in the Newcastle community, serving as Vice Chair of the Newcastle Planning Commission, President of the Vineyard HOA, and organizer of beloved events like the Newcastle Christmas Tree Lighting and the Lake Boren Egg Hunt.
Quigg will take the oath of office at the January 7, 2025, council meeting.
"We are grateful to the residents who applied and thank them for their willingness to serve Newcastle," Mayor Clark said. "We welcome Jim Quigg to the council and look forward to working with him as we plan for Newcastle’s future."
