Newcastle welcomes the Year of the Dragon with an all-ages Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, February 4, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Risdon Middle School (6928 116th Ave SE, Newcastle).
The celebration begins with the spectacular Dragon and Lion dances by Northwest Kung Fu and Fitness. Live entertainment continues on stage with a tai chi demonstration, classical and modern Chinese music, and more! Enjoy activities throughout the afternoon, including calligraphy, paper crafting, and popular Asian board games.
Schedule Highlights:
1:30 p.m. Dragon and Lion dances and Kung Fu Demonstration
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Drop in for dance and music demonstrations and all-ages arts and crafts, calligraphy, and games. Sample traditional snacks.
The event is being organized through a community partnership between City of Newcastle, Newcastle Arts Council, Newcastle Library, and Friends of Newcastle Library.
Parking is available in the three school parking lots as well as nearby Hazelwood Elementary School.
