On March 21, 2023, Council held its regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the regular meeting, at 6:00 p.m., Council held an executive session pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) to discuss matter(s) relating to performance of a public employee. Executive sessions are closed to the public in accordance with state law, and no final actions are taken during these sessions.

Councilmember Comment Highlights
Councilmember Villaseñor noted that the start of spring is an excellent time to adopt a drain in your neighborhood. Councilmember Charbonneau mentioned the great time he had officiating a recent wrestling match between Risdon Middle School and McKnight Middle School, after he was called in as an emergency referee. Mayor Newing noted that Newcastle Chamber of Commerce events are moving to a quarterly schedule.

Council held a discussion regarding the proposed City of Newcastle 2023 Strategic Plan. No action was taken.
