The Government Finance Officers Association has announced that the City of Newcastle, Washington, has received GFOA's Distinguished Budget Award for its budget for the current fiscal year. This is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, and, according to GFOA, it represents a significant achievement by the City.
This award is valid for a year, and a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation was presented to our Finance Director, Donald Palmer.
According to the GFOA Awards Office, this award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting. "Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America."
