Let’s face it, 2020 has been a very tough year. COVID-19 restrictions kept us separated from family and friends, made masks a new part of our wardrobes, and levied a catastrophic blow on small businesses. So, as Small Business Saturday approaches on November 28, we have the health of our residents and our local business community at the forefront of our minds.
That’s why the City has teamed up with local businesses to launch Shop Newcastle, an initiative aimed at promoting our businesses while keeping our community healthy and masked up. When you shop at participating businesses, you can earn a FREE City of Newcastle-branded, cloth face mask, while supplies last.
The City has distributed 1,500 reusable face masks to businesses, and starting on Small Business Saturday November 28, you can get yours. Each business has its own conditions on how to obtain a mask, but it could be as simple as visiting and saying “I love Newcastle!” Please visit or contact each business for their unique rules. Business websites, where available, are linked below.
These are the businesses that have elected to participate:
- Code Ninjas Newcastle
- DIY Tea Lab
- Frosty Barrel
- Jersey Mike’s
- Jet City Pizza
- Loco-chon Bar & Grill
- Newcastle Cleaners (6920 Coal Creek Pkwy SE Ste 5)
- Newcastle Fruit & Produce
- Tapatio Mexican Grill
- VERDE Organic Body
Masks are only available while supplies last. One mask per customer.
Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Join the City of Newcastle in choosing to shop small, think local and patronize the independent retailers and restaurants that make this community special. By shopping or dining at small businesses throughout the year, you’re showing your support for the independent retailers in your neighborhood. Plus, when you shop local, you’re directly contributing to your community. The sales tax revenue generated supports the City services that make Newcastle a special place to live.
