The Newcastle City Council hosted a special meeting to discuss a draft utility tax ordinance on Tuesday, May 12. However, promptly following a closed executive session with the City Attorney, the City Council unanimously voted to postpone discussion on this topic until the June 2 regular meeting of the City Council. They immediately adjourned tonight's special meeting after that vote and did not discuss the matter.

The meeting was scheduled for the purpose of reviewing a draft utility tax ordinance. The Council was not voting on the ordinance tonight. For details on how the City Council got to this point, please read our May 5 City Council meeting recap: https://bit.ly/2Ljy8oC.
