Councilmember Karin Frost Blakley

Karin Frost Blakley was elected to City Council in 2025. Her connection to Newcastle began in 1994, when her family moved to the “hook” of Renton, a strip of land surrounded by the newly incorporated city. As Newcastle grew, it became clear it was a special community her family wanted to join. Karin led the effort to de-annex her neighborhood from Renton and annex it into Newcastle, where it has been home ever since.

A fifth-generation Pacific Northwesterner and UW Husky alumna, Karin has built a career as a financial advisor while raising her sons, making friends, and giving back to the community. She has served as President of the Hazelwood PTSA, President of the Greater Newcastle Chamber of Commerce, and as a Planning Commissioner.

As a City Councilmember, her goals include keeping Newcastle welcoming and safe, maintaining parks, trails, streets, and sidewalks, providing strong fire and police protection, planning for sensible growth, and supporting thriving local businesses. She believes it is important to listen to the community and to do her utmost, working alongside city staff and fellow Councilmembers, to ensure Newcastle remains a community we continue to love to call home.
