The Newcastle City Council is seeking applications for membership on the Planning Commission to serve the remainder of an unexpired term ending July 31, 2024. The Commission is made up of city residents who help shape Newcastle’s future by advising the Council on matters affecting land use, such as the Comprehensive Plan, other long-range plans, and zoning and development codes. Commissioners work with city staff on projects approved by the City Council as part of an annual work program. During the pandemic, the Commission has been meeting via Zoom.
The Commission is a seven-member advisory board of the City Council. Commissioners serve four-year terms. Members are appointed by the Mayor following a selection process and confirmed by the Council. The Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle, WA 98056.
Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years of age and must reside within the city.
