Save the date for Saturday, October 3! That's when the City of Newcastle will host our Fall Recycling Event. There are a few important changes to be aware of. We cannot accept household goods or clothing at this event. Due to logistical challenges and completely full warehouses, the company that collects reusable household goods and clothing indicated that they will not be able to participate this fall. We also cannot accept Styrofoam as the vendor was unavailable. However, we are offering a new service at this event: Confidential paper shredding. You can bring up to four file-size boxes full of material.
As always, we will accept batteries, electronic equipment, cardboard, porcelain toilets/sinks, propane tanks, mattresses, appliances and scrap metals. PLEASE NOTE: Some items come with a recycling fee. Please see the brochure for costs. CASH ONLY. Please use exact change.
DO NOT bring household goods, Styrofoam, scrap wood, yard debris, garbage, furniture, toys or any hazardous waste (motor oil, antifreeze, oil-based paint, pesticides, solvents, thinners, household chemicals).
The event goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School (7100 116th Ave SE). Attendees are encouraged to wear masks, gloves and to pack your items so they can be removed quickly.
