Newcastle Representatives Attend Vision House Luncheon

The City of Newcastle was well represented at the Vision House No Homeless Kids Benefit Luncheon on May 15. Mayor Allen Dauterman, City Manager Rob Wyman and Community Activities Coordinator Wendy Kirchner were all on hand, in addition to representatives from the Coal Creek YMCA, the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and HomeStreet Bank.

Ally Svenson, a co-founder of MOD Pizza, was the luncheon’s guest speaker. She discussed the company’s people-first mission. During the event, it was announced that a MOD Pizza location is coming to Newcastle. The “fast-casual” pizza place will open in The Shops at Newcastle Commons toward the end of the year.

The event raised funds to support Vision House’s work to provide transitional housing, critical support and life skills training, and the time needed for a family experiencing homelessness to identify their strengths to become more resilient and housing ready. The nonprofit has facilities in Renton and Shoreline.
