Toddler Story Times
Monday, November 4, 18 and 25, 10am and 11:15am
Ages 1 to 3 with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Playtime follows. Space is limited.

Play and Learn Chinese
Tuesday, November 5, 12 and 19, 10:30am
Newborn to age 5 with caregiver. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. This program is conducted primarily in Chinese but the facilitator is a bilingual English/Chinese speaker.

Infant Story Times

Wednesday, November 6, 13, 20 and 27, 10am
Newborn to 12 months with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Playtime follows. Space is limited.

Preschool Story Times
Thursday, November 7, 14 and 21, 10am
Family program, all ages welcome with adult. Stories, songs and fun!

Family Movie Event: Frozen Sing-Along!
Saturday, November 16, 10:15am
Family program, all ages welcome with adult. Join your librarians as Anna and Elsa to celebrate the upcoming release of Frozen 2 with a sing-along of the original film! Costumes and singing encouraged! Snacks served. Rated PG. Run time: 108 minutes.

Teens

Use Micro:Bits to Create Props Workshop
Monday, November 4, 6pm
Ages 12 and older, ages 7 to 11 with adult. Presented by FoxBot Industries. Learn to use block-based code on the Microsoft MakeCode website. Discover how to add “smart” electronics to your costumes, props and cos-play accessories. Please register beginning October 19. Adults accompanying children do not need to register.

Study Zone
Tuesday, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, 6:30pm
Grades K-12. Drop-in for free homework help from trained volunteer tutors.

Kerbal Space Program Club
Wednesday, November 6, 6:00 PM
Ages 10 to 17. Join fans of rockets, space travel and explosions in playing the award-winning computer game Kerbal Space Program! Use one of the library's laptops or bring your own if you already play. Space is limited.

Newcastle Youth Community Engagement (NYCE)
Wednesday, November 20, 6:30 PM
Attention middle and high school students! Help the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle create the programs, services and events you want to see! Munch on snacks while you make a difference!

STARS WORKSHOP
Story Time STEM
Saturday, November 9, 3pm
Presented by Julie Anderson and Michelle Salgado.
Stories are one way we can explore literacy ideas with young learners. You can build upon this familiar activity by offering tools that incorporate math and science learning into reading activities and help children view themselves as mathematicians and scientists.
Persons requiring STARS-approved continuing education credit must bring their STARS registration number the day of the workshop to receive credit. Limited to 45. First come, first seated.

5 Pillars of Brain Health

Presented by AARP. It’s never too late to take charge of your brain health! In this hour-long, interactive session, learn about the five pillars of brain health. Discover how living an active life—by learning more, being social, staying fit, eating right and managing stress—is our best bet for maintaining our brain health. Share your brain-boosting tips and be inspired by others.

Gretchen Yanover: Electric Cello
Saturday, November 16, 2pm
Presented by Gretchen Yanover, local cellist and recording artist. Using her electric cello and loop sampler, Gretchen builds layers of sound to create beautiful instrumental atmospheres. Her music has been featured in contexts ranging from film to dance to podcast soundtracks. Sponsored by the City of Newcastle, 4Culture and the Newcastle Arts Council.
