Children & Families

Toddler Story Times
Monday, December 2, 10am and repeated at 11:15am
Ages 1 to 3 with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Playtime follows. Space is very limited. First come, first served.

Play and Learn Chinese
Tuesday, December 3, 10 and 17, 10:30am
Newborn to age 5 with adult. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. This program is conducted primarily in Chinese but the facilitator is a bilingual English/Chinese speaker.

Crafts and Carols
Saturday, December 14
Crafts: 10:30am-2 PM
All ages welcome. Drop-in and use our supplies to make greeting cards, bookmarks, magnets and jingle bell bracelets. Have little kids? Help them make a snowman or popsicle-stick snowflake at a preschool-friendly craft table. 
The Dickens Carolers-2 PM
Bring your friends and family and join us for music and holiday cheer. Adorned in elegant Victorian dress, an a cappella quartet will sing your holiday favorites, both traditional and contemporary, in beautiful four-point harmony.

Study Zone
Tuesday, December 3, 10 and 17, 6:30pm
Grades K to 12. Drop-in for free homework help from trained volunteer tutors.

Kerbal Space Program Club
Wednesday, December 4, 6pm
Ages 10 to 17. Join fans of rockets, space travel and explosions in playing the award-winning computer game Kerbal Space Program! Use one of the library's laptops or bring your own if you already play. Space is limited.

Newcastle Youth Community Engagement (NYCE)
Wednesday, December 18, 6:30 PM
Attention middle and high school students! Help the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle create the programs, services and events you want to see! Munch on snacks while you make a difference!

Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover

Create Collage Greeting Cards
Saturday, December 7, 10:30am
For adults and teens ages 14 and older. Presented by Emily Mallory, artist.
Create unique collage greeting cards using upcycled materials ranging from sheet music, dictionary pages, winter books, magazines and scrapbook paper. You can make up to five greeting cards during the program, and leave with the knowledge of how to make cards from materials you have at home. Registration required.
