Children & Families

Library Game Day!
Saturday, December 1, 10:30am
All ages welcome! Do you like tabletop games? Drop by and join us to meet local game designers, see demonstrations of games that are still being created, and get a chance to play new games that have not been published yet! Games for all ages will also be available for free play.

Toddler Story Times
Monday, December 3, 10:15am and 11:30am
Ages 1 to 3 with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Space is limited. First come, first served.

Play & Learn Chinese
Tuesday, December 4 and 11, 10:30am
Newborn to age 5 with adult. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. This program is conducted primarily in Chinese but the facilitator is a bilingual English/Chinese speaker.

Infant Story Time
Wednesday, December 5, 10:15am
Newborn to 12 months with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Space is limited. First come, first served.

Preschool Story Time
Wednesday, December 5, 11:30am
Ages 3 to 5 with adult. Stories, songs and fun! Space is limited. First come, first served.


Girls Who Code Club
Monday, December 3, 10 and 17, 6pm
Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization aiming to inspire, educate, and equip girls with computing skills they need in the 21st century. This free after-school club is for girls in grades 6-12 to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment.

Study Zone
Tuesday, December 4, 11 and 18, 6:30pm
Grades K-12. Drop in for free homework help from trained volunteer tutors.

Kerbal Space Program Club
Wednesday, December 5, 6pm
Ages 10 to 17. Join fans of rockets, space travel and explosions in playing the award-winning computer game Kerbal Space Program! Use a library laptop or bring your own if you already play. Space is limited.

Newcastle Youth for Community Engagement (NYCE)
Wednesday, December 12, 6:30pm
Attention middle and high school students!
Volunteer and join Newcastle Youth Community Engagement (NYCE) to help the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle create the programs, services and events you want to see!


Talk Time Classes

Improve your speaking and listening skills in this English conversation group for English language learners.

Friends of the Newcastle Library Mini Book Sale

There will be hundreds of books for all ages in a wide-ranging selection of genres.

The Dickens Carolers at Newcastle Library

Bring your friends and family and join us for music and holiday cheer. Adorned in elegant Victorian dress, an a cappella quartet of two ladies in luxurious velvet and two gentlemen wearing handsome tailcoats and top hats sing your holiday favorites, both traditional and contemporary, in beautiful four-part harmony.
