The City of Newcastle has made the very tough decision to cancel our 2020 Newcastle Days festival on Sept. 12. Unfortunately, there was too much uncertainty related to the COVID-19 outbreak and our staff and volunteers just do not feel we could safely hold the event and ensure everyone’s public health.

This was not an easy decision, and organizers held out as long as possible to see if conditions changed. But the uncertain trajectory of the outbreak and the impossibility of maintaining safe social distancing at this popular event were important factors, because keeping our community safe and healthy remains our number one priority.

However, we’re still hoping you’ll celebrate with us that September weekend by participating in the Newcastle Days Virtual 5K Run/Walk. Save the dates for Sept. 11-13 to participate in this community event wherever you are! Registration comes with a free commemorative T-shirt. Details will be posted on newcastlewa.gov in early August.

Thank you so much for your understanding, Newcastle. We look forward to seeing you back at Lake Boren Park next summer!
