Watch: Explore the New China Creek Trail Boardwalk
Posted on 01/26/2018

A new segment of the China Creek Trail will soon allow users to make a complete loop around Lake Boren. The City of Newcastle recently completed work on a boardwalk that will eventually connect the Lake Boren Esplanade to 129th Avenue Southeast. The 225-foot segment consists of a new crushed rock trail leading to the boardwalk that meanders through the wetland to a peaceful rest area with a bench.

The new boardwalk trail can be accessed from the west through the Southeast 75th Street road-end alongside the Lake Boren Townhomes, just off of 129th Avenue Southeast. To the east, the new segment connects to the Aegis Gardens boardwalk which leads to the Lake Boren Esplanade and Coal Creek Parkway. The Aegis Gardens portion is not yet open, but once it is, it will complete a walkable route around the north end of Lake Boren, forming a 1.4-mile walking loop around the lake.

In theWhat's New in Newcastle videos below, Tony Ventrella and Julie Cassata, city project planner, introduce you to the new boardwalk. What's New in Newcastle is a new video series bringing you information from the City of Newcastle.
