City Staff Holds November Food Drive

Newcastle city staff members are partnering with Northwest Harvest to host a community food drive this November. You’re invited to join the cause and make a difference for families in need in the Newcastle area. Bring donations of non-perishable foods, baby formula and diapers to the collection box located on the first-floor lobby at Newcastle City Hall (12835 Newcastle Way) starting Nov. 1.

Northwest Harvest recommends donations of shelf-stable food with the lowest saturated fats and refined carbohydrates (sugar, white flour). Suggested items include Beef stew, chili and similar meals with low salt, sugar and saturated fats, canned fruit with low sugar, canned fish or meat, peanut butter and canned vegetables. Each month, Northwest Harvest provides more than 2 million nutritious meals and supports a statewide network of more than 375 food banks, meal programs and high-need schools, focusing on stable, nutritious, culturally-sensitive foods critical to body and mind.
